NSW 12&U State Age Championships

11 Sep 2018 by Jared Goldthorpe

Well done to all the young guns who have just finished a full weekend of racing at this year’s 2018 NSW 12&U State SC Championships. As a coach of the younger development programs, it is exciting to see the progression of 12&U State champs qualifiers building every year. The level of maturity in their approaches to their racing has been above standard and shows to be promising for the future of RCSC.

Attendance:
I would just like to congratulate all RCSC swimmers who competed in individual events over the weekend including: Alyssa Azriel, Cooper Blacklock, Catherine Coutts, Miximo DiBlasio, Evie Ellis, Ruby Etherington, Miah Georgas, Flynn Jackson, Himani Karki, Oakley Lamb, Jackson McCleery, Freddo Mravec, William Reay, Liam Vaneris and Sienna Thompson. Unfortunately Charlie White who also made an individual QT in the 200FS, was unable to compete due to sickness.

Further, a big thank you to those who came out to Homebush to represent their team in the relays including: Tarni Doyle, Riley Mungovan, Chris Saravanos, Chanelle Stokes and Jamie Smith.

Results:
A special mention to our 5 NSW top ten place getters:
• Jackson McCleery – 400FS – 5th, 200FS – 7th
• Oakley Lamb – 100FS – 5th
• Alyssa Azriel – 100Fly – 8th
• Freddo Mravec – 200IM – 8th (-8sec PB!)
• Sienna Thompson – 200Fly – 10th

A huge shout out to Freddo for receiving two medals over the weekend! Freddo was awarded a Silver in the 50m Breastroke and a Bronze medal in his 100m Breastroke. Further, to these great achievements, Freddo was the highest point scorer over the weekend, tallying up 67/137 individual points scored for the club.

Coaches Message:
This season has shown to be a great success for all swimmers amongst the development squads. All kids here have been working hard and shown a big commitment to the program, and as a result have progressed really well throughout the season. I look forward heading into our long course season starting off with the RCSC meet this weekend. With a full commitment to the program I’m sure all swimmers can reach their full potential leading into Canberra and LC State Champs.

Regards,

Jared Goldthorpe
